Clinical Research Investigators

James Huey, MD

Dr. James Huey received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky and holds a master's degree in healthcare administration from the University of Wisconsin. He is an associate clinical professor at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He is accreditated by the Accreditation Council for Gynecologic Endoscopy, American College of Radiology for OB/GYN Ultrasound, and the American Board of Quality Assurance. He is a member of the Ohio Medical Association, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Society of Ultrasound in Medicine, the Society of Air Force Clinical Surgeons, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Stuart Weprin, MD

Dr. Stuart Weprin is a graduate of the Ohio State University Medical School in Columbus, Ohio. He is an associate Clinical Professor at Wright State University, in Dayton, Ohio. He is a member of the Ohio Medical Association, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the American Urogynecologic Society, the International Urogynecologic Society, the Society Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Clinical Research Staff

Chris Weese, CMA, CRC

Chris is a Certified Medical Assistant. She joined HWC Research in July 2008 and brings seven years of clinical research experience to the center, including a wide variety of clinical research trials and regulatory experience.

Becky Ponder, RN, CRC

Becky is a Registered Nurse and Clinical Research Coordinator here at HWC Women’s Research and is proud to be part of this team. With her, she brings 18 years of experience in the medical field, 10 of which have been spent in the Clinical Research setting. Her extensive background includes expertise in a variety of clinical areas such as: Women’s Health, Asthma and Allergy, Adult Psychiatry, Pain Management, Cardiovascular Disorders and Endocrinology. She is instrumental in her role, and is responsible for the implementation of trials for Investigational Medication, Diagnostic Testing and Pharmaceutical Devices. This includes study execution and management, as well as providing direct patient care for each study subject, while maintaining strict adherence to all study protocols.

Janell Wilker, RD/LD, CRC

Sales & Marketing Coordinator

Janell joined the staff in 2010 and brings 10 years research experience. Janell has experience in all areas of clinical trials including as a Coordinator (CRC), Study Start-Up/Close-Out (including pre-study document submission, site visits, etc) IRB/Regulatory submission/maintenance and Contract/ Budget Negotiations.

Additional experience includes Marketing with coordination of group presentations and media representation.

Heather Knight, CRC.

Heather has been with HWC research since 2008, and is currently working on her R.N. degree. She is a Clinical Research Coordinator and is a key member of the tem bringing youth, energy, and a solid work ethic to HWC Research. She is active in her role as coordinator, and is committed to providing accurate data capturing in addition to her excellent patient care.

Caitlin Phillips, M.A., CRC

Caitlin joined HWC Research in 2009 and currently works parallel to Dr’s Huey and Weprin as their Medical Assistant, as well as in the research setting as a Clinical Research Coordinator. She plays an active role in the recruiting and caring for patients. She is responsible for maintaining accurate source documentation and is diligent in complying to strict protocol guidelines, while providing compassionate patient care.
